Where You Look Affects How You Write

$25.00

This RMBI Brown Bag presentation focuses on Brainspotting + Writing with a unique approach for inviting access to and expressions from the unconscious brain. Information gained in this presentation holds the possibility for use:

  • with your clients in session,
  • for your client’s independent work between your sessions together,
  • for your own personal experience.

This approach can be appropriate for use with any client in any language.

Creating an environment for accessing the unconscious brain and setting an appropriate frame by using writing can create a non-judgmental environment for thoughts and feelings to emerge in an unusual, unexpected avenue.

Attendees will utilize several Brainspotting techniques to support the possibility of connecting with the creative, unconscious brain while bypassing some of the potential blocks which frequently accompany writing: apprehension, fear, the internal critic, or imposter syndrome.

The focus of this work and this presentation is unconcerned about sentence structure, grammar, or punctuation. Instead, it focuses on tapping into the use of our written language to find what may be nestled in our unconscious brain.

The techniques in this presentation combine Brainspotting with classic writing instructions from well-known teachers such as Natalie Goldberg, Anne Lamott, Stephen King, Julia Cameron, Marion Roach Smith, and others.

This seminar will demonstrate the work to be held in Serene’s upcoming monthly writing group with the same title. *The title and this work is supported by David Grand, PhD*
