When we encounter another’s face, we encounter ourselves, our inner world, and our anxiety. A face-to-face encounter requires self-regulation. How do visual figures enhance self-regulation through Brainspotting?
- Visual figures, combined with a relevant eye position, activate layers of somatic and nonverbal memory.
- Visual figures enable clients to bypass the neocortex to access subcortical regions of the brain.
- Visual figures externalize internal relational processing, fostering emotional integration and clarity.
- Visual figures anchor clients on somatic experience while simultaneously reducing overwhelm during intense emotional/trauma work.
These unique frame techniques are applicable to developmental trauma, relational trauma, grief/loss (including pet loss), relational emotional dysregulation, conflict, guilt/shame, forgiveness, trust, attachment, boundary concerns, and other forms of unfinished relational issues. As a result of this workshop, you will be able to enhance your clients’ capacity to acknowledge their reality, rapidly healthier relational wounds, and view their relational situations with a fresh perspective with increased freedom.
IMPORTANT: This workshop requires an external webcam (approximately $30), a set of wooden peg dolls (approximately $15), and a wooden board (approximately $5-10) or cutting board with a width of at least 15 inches (ideally, 20 inches or wider). By registering, you agree to obtain these items and be prepared to use them during the workshop. Please note: if these materials are not ready, you will not be able to participate in the practicum. Recommended webcams, wooden peg dolls, and wooden board will be included in the welcome email upon registration.
