David Grand in both Phase 1 and 2 outlines a powerful model for working with High Acuity individuals.  Learning to focus and modify the frame is an essential aspect to all brainspotting but especially with the untreatable populations.  Along with frame, learning to conceptualize, build and strengthen “islands” is an essential strategy that will be discussed and demonstrated with case examples from real life cases. Both Steve Sawyer and Jeff Ryan have over 25-30 years working with some of the most acute populations so please join them in exploring this often misunderstood and mistreated population.

Jeff Ryan LPC,CSAC is a Brainspotting trainer and consultant.  He enjoys training and consulting with individuals, agencies and brainspotting practitioners who are seeking to expand use, integration and skills with Brainspotting especially with Higher Acuity populations.  His passion and empathy for those struggling with addiction and trauma has led him to specialize in psychotherapeutic work and training in these areas.  Along with training Phase 1 and 2,  he has created specialty trainings for Brainspotting and Addiction along with working with Higher Acuity populations.
 
 
Steve Sawyer LCSW CSAC is a highly experienced Dual Licensed therapist and has been a trainer of Brainspotting Phase 1 and 2 for over a decade. He authored the Digging Roots: Developmental Trauma Focused Model of Brainspotting and founded the Developmental Trauma Training Institute. Steve’s wilderness therapy organization pioneered the use of Brainspotting in the high acuity, out of home placement world, where most of the clients lived outside the window of tolerance healing profoundly in a nature based environment. In addition he is a faculty at the Institute of Heartmath who’s science based self regulation systems support Acute populations to regulate.
