I have worked in health care since 1999; my passion lies in empowering people to acquire the necessary tools to make positive life changes. I operate with a warm heart, gentle presence and special ability to connect with the human spirit. My desire to connect with and help others led me to become a Licensed Massage Therapist, graduating from East-West College of Healing Arts in 1998 and to obtain a Master of Social Work degree from Eastern Washington University in 2006. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to have two separate professions, that of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, specializing in a neurobiological technique called Brainspotting, and that of a Licensed Massage Therapist. I hold a professional license in both fields, and take pride in keeping the two practices separate from one another. Yet, there is always an overlap in my ability to provide “compassionate presence†in both professional roles.
In the social work realm, I have over 10 years experience as a hospice social worker/grief counselor. Working privately with clients in my own Licensed Clinical Social Work Practice continues to be rewarding. I have extensive experience working in the realm of death and dying, grief and bereavement, trauma (including trauma resulting from war, physical and emotional trauma, trauma resulting from medical related issues), life transitions, and issues around personal performance.
As a licensed massage therapist I provide therapeutic massage and Reiki, while educating people about self-care and walking with them on their path to a healthier way of living. In recent years, my massage practice has focused on end-of-life care, hospice massage and working with the aging population. While I find this work rewarding, I am still fond of practicing Swedish massage, Deep Tissue massage and Reiki.
